Holy Week: Throughout the prefecture the Passions of Christ and Easter are celebrated with reverence and on Easter Sunday there is dancing and lamb cooked on a spit and wine is offered.
April 23 or Easter Monday: Festival of Saint George in Vrisses, Nea Roumata, Kalogeros Strouvlon, Psathagianno, Kambanos and Asi Gonia. In Asi Gonia the shepherds bring their herds to be sanctified and offer milk and meat with pilaf to the attendees.
June 8th: Celebration of Saint Theodore on Thodorou island
August 6th: Celebration of the Transfiguration of Christ our Savior in Kalives, Xirosterni, Kefala, Voukolies, Maleme, Kakopetro, Plemeniana.
August 15: Celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Kolimbari, Chryssoskalitissa, Platianias, Therissos, Palea Roumata, Permonia, Meskla, Loutraki, Likotinara and Exopolis.
August 24th: Celebration of Saint Fanourios in Vrisses, Kiparissos and Rapaniana.
August 29th: Celebration of Saint John Rigologos at Giona, Manoliopoulo and Kournas.
September 14th: Festival of the Holy Cross at Alikiano, Xamoudochori, Varipetro and Tavroniti.
September 15th: Saint Nikitas celebration at Frangokastello with the organization of horse races and athletic events.
November 21st: Celebration of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary at the Cathedral in Chania
December 6th: Celebration of Saint Nicholas on the Souda islet, Splantzia
December 12th: Celebration of Saint Spyridon in the Cathedral of Kissamos
December 24th: Christmas eve: Representation of the birth of Christ in the caves Topolia and Marathokefalas.
