The beach of Glyka Nera is located 75 kilometers south of Chania, on the South coast of Crete and very close to Chora Sfakia.

It is a pebbled covered beach, with very clean and fresh (not sea) water that comes from an underground spring. In Greek, Glyka Nera means "sweet (fresh) water", hence the name of the beach.

It is well protected from the winds but somewhat difficult to get to. There is no road leading to the beach but there are the following options:

From Chora Sfakion the walk is about 30 minutes. From Loutro the walk takes about 1 hour over a somewhat difficult trail. Finally, there is a small boat that departs Loutro at 10:00 am. and returns at 4:00 in the afternoon.
